Meet the Briar Patch Hedgehog herd
My hedgehogs all come from great breeders around the USA and some are even imported from out of the country! Of course a lot of my herd is made up of hedgehogs that were born right here at Briar Patch.
I do not own any hedgehogs from pet stores and I do not sell to pet stores.
I take pride in my animals and their pedigrees and the breeders that took the time to produce them.
Here are the ladies of Briar Patch!
And the gentlemen of Briar Patch…..
A peek inside my Hedgehog Room
I keep my hedgehogs in one of the rooms in my house, they even have skylights in there! They have the whole family passing through often so the hedgie parents and babies are used to every day sounds including my children that like to sit on the couch in the room and play. I play music while I’m cleaning and feeding and they consider this their “dinner bell”. Most of them wake up and wait for their kibble, some even like to watch me as I tend to the rest of the cages.
I have shelves that hold 30 cages in total. This includes keeping empty cages for litters of babies after they are weaned but before they go to their new homes.
I use large Sterilite containers for my hedgehog homes. I like how easy they are to clean, disinfect and the sides are smooth with nothing to catch tiny legs on. I modify them to hold water bottles from the outside and for those hedgies that escape, they have plenty of ventilation from the wire mesh I insert into most of the lid (just like the ones I sell on my Supplies page).
